PARKING PERMITS

If you sustained an injury that impairs your mobility (such as leg/foot/ankle), you are entitled to obtain a parking permit for people with temporary or permanent disabilities. I personally took advantage of that only late in my recovery because I simply did not have necessary information. So here are some links to the websites that will describe how and where to obtain such a permit.

Connecticut

New Jersey

This webpage describes how to obtain permanent and temporary placards (I guess it's new jersian for "disability parking"). Apparently in order to obtain your temporary disability parking you need to go to your local police department to get and application and then mail it where indicated. They don't make it easy in Jersey, do they?

New York

Form and instructions can be found here. I did the entire thing by mail, which took me about 2 weeks, however if you are able, you can go there in person and get your permit right away. New York is one of few states (I'm proud to live here), which does NOT charge for this service.
